There is a kind of magic that happens when the mist clears to reveal a grizzly bear foraging for berries, or a herd of bison crossing a meadow. The national parks of the American West, from the jagged peaks of the Grand Tetons to the volcanic basins of Yellowstone, offer some of the best wildlife on Earth. However, witnessing these animals in their natural habitat requires more than just showing up with a camera.
